John Joseph Crane, Jr., of North Canton, 81, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Cherry Brook Healthcare after a long illness. John was born in Hartford on June 7, 1935 to the late John Joseph and Mary Ronan Crane. He grew up in the south end of Hartford, lived in West Hartford, and moved to North Canton in 1972. John was graduated from Saint Augustine School, Holy Trinity High School, Siena College, and the University of Hartford with a Master's degree in Public Administration. John served in the Connecticut Army National Guard from 1953 to1962 He was a member of the First Company Governors' Foot Guard and the Officers Club of Connecticut. He was an avid Patriot and Red Sox fan. John was employed by the City of Hartford for over thirty years, retiring in 1993. He was a parishioner of Saint Catherine of Siena Church, West Simsbury. He leaves his wife, Hollys Radigan Crane of North Canton, his son John W. Crane (Lauren D. Tyson) of North Canton, his sister, Ann C. DeCozio of Old Saybrook, two nieces, Sheila Ford Tanguay and her husband Ray, and their children Meghan, Ethan, and Daniel of Hampton Falls, NH and Kathleen M. Ford and her husband Jerry Daniel, and their daughter Olivia of Athens, GA, as well as several cousins. Besides his parents, John was predeceased in 1995 by his sister, Mary C. Crane. The funeral was held Saturday, June 25, 2016, and was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, in St. Augustine Church, Hartford. Burial followed in Mount Saint Benedicts Cemetery, Bloomfield.
