Not sure what to say?

John was a friend, conversation partner, and mentor. I entered ministry later in life as a second (actually third) career clergy, just as John did. I deeply appreciate and am saddened to learn of his death. I wish the family sweet and peaceful days.

Pastor John was an incredibly inspirational man. I am thankful to God for having the privilege to briefly know him and his wife Julia. I met them both at a pivotal moment of my life as my new husband and I are trying to figure out what kind of life we want to live and how to live closer to God. Thank you for touching my life. Your memory and the light you reflected from God will always be with me. Whenever I revisit the AT, I will be reminded that I will be following your steps, the same step...

I had the privilege of meeting John and Julia at the Cromartie Reunion in Bladen County, NC in 2023!

John was a unique and inspiring person. We were friends in college and I admired him. He was a leader and I believed then he was destined for great things. His life is a testimony to that belief fulfilled. Love and sympathy to Julia also, a beautiful friend from Emory.

Offering our deepest condolences during this difficult time.

Rev. John Cromartie and his beloved wife, Julia, were true role models in my life. Their annual Christmas cards-- filled with refections on books, symphonies, and joyful photos of their growing family--were something I always looked forward to. At CFUMC, John made me feel truly seen and heard. I was fortunate to take several of his Bible study classes, where his wisdom and warmth were always present. He modeled such balance--between work, family, faith, and recreation. As a graduate of...

Heaven is rejoicing in receiving this giant of a man into the Kingdom. While we mourn your loss, we take comfort in knowing we will see you again someday and await to hear one of your memorable stories. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Julia and your family.

Mr. Cromartie was one of the finest, most compassionate and thoughtful souls I will ever know. A devoted preacher, advocate, and mentor in every sense of those words. My deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to Julia, Frances, John, and Tom. The world is truly a lesser place without John in it.
