A truly great friend for many, many years, starting with our time together in the geography department at Fitchburg State. So glad I was able to spend a day with him in June and was looking forward to another get-together in November. Such a warm, engaging, and fun individual. He'll be sorely missed. John would probably barely remember me, but we were students together from St. Leo's all the way through Leominster High. I thought he was so funny, and kind, and had the best stories. He even helped me write my "I Shall Not Talk in Class" pages when I was being punished yet again.
I lost track of him, but learning that he lived his life as an educator and adventurer makes perfect sense based on the wonderful, warm curious person he was in his youth. I am so sorry for his family and...
