Not sure what to say?

John was such a good-natured person, always a warm and friendly neighbor. He was knowledgeable and helpful, often with an impish grin! We always think of him when we drive past his camp on the lake. Our sympathy to his family.

When I was born, Johnny was 11 and my mother and I lived with them for a couple of years. From then on I was known as "Little Janet". I am so glad I was able to see him one last time in May of 2024. Rest in Peace, my dear Cousin.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers in this time of sorrow. God bless you all.

Our condolences to the whole family. He was a great guy with a wealth of knowledge on many subjects. Many friends and acquaintances will miss him.

John is one of the nicest, most generous persons I've met. He was generous with this time, talents, and advice - all of which I benefited from greatly. I so enjoyed the stories about his many adventures, projects, and life in the Helderbergs. John left a beautiful impact on this earth and I will miss his spirit!

John was working on his camp, when I met him over 20 years ago. I had just bought my place down the road. When John first came to look at my camp, he was astonished to see that I had no electricity, no water, and no connection to the septic tank. No worries! I used candles, brought bottles of water, and was creative about going to the potty! We became fast friends and exchanged stories and worked together. I learned so very much from John. One of the first things he said, and then followed up...

John was always willing to give me advice, whether desired or not. If I needed a tool, his garage and shop were always open (he showed me where he hid the key)! If I just wanted some company, he was always ready with a story or a joke. John´s memory of names and events was phenomenal and I learned a lot of hill-town history from him. I will miss him and probably always be looking for his truck around Lake Onderdonk so that I might say hello to him once again.
