Not sure what to say?

Here I am now Father Crowley all grown up but a kid at heart.Love You!

I loved Father Crowley so much.I was happy to hear he married and had children. He had a poster of Madonna the singer on his door.He was so funny and clever. His knowledge of the Bible was immense.I was just writing about him and found out he passed. So sad as I wish I could have told him the impact he had on my life and I loved him but being a medium I talk to spirits.I know we may just meet on the other side but I'm sure as an avid reader he has read his comments here:)So "Hi Father Crowley I...

I remember Fr.Crowley when he came to Redding as a young priest, I think it was 1974.He would kick the soccer ball at recess at St. Joseph school and 100 young kids at the school would run after it They loved his energy. He was a wonderful man and I was sorry to hear of his passing. I wish his family well. Ruth Duclos

I was just reading about BOOKER Prize-winning author John Banville, who is in the running for this year's Nobel Prize in Literature. This got me thinking about John Crowley who often said he'd give a pint of his own blood to get his hands on books. I am very saddened to hear of John's passing. His love of Irish literature which he so generously shared during his classes in Sacramento will never be forgotten. I know he'll be rooting for Banville. Put in a good word for him John, will ye?

I remember Fr. Crowley from his time at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Oroville. His sermons at Mass were those that made you think. I really felt as though he put his all into his work as a priest and came across as a very genuine person. God bless his family at this time.

I would like to start by giving my condolences to the entire Crowley family. My name is Bruce Herrick and I grew up in Chico, CA. Our family attended St. Johns and I was an alter boy during that time. John Crowley was one of the kindest and funniest men I have ever known. I always looked up to him and he meant the world to our family. My father was a Chico Police officer and he and my mother were both very close with John and Tom Dermody. I remember nights where John would come over to our...

All my best to the Crowley family. John truly lived a life "following his bliss", as Joseph Campbell would have said, and for all his passion and love of literature and all things Irish, he was a truly unique person -- one of a kind. And we shall all miss him. I was privileged to attend his classes in Irish language and Irish literature in Sacramento, through the Irish American Social Club. He gave of himself and shared selflessly with us the joy he found in the Irish culture. John's...

To the Crowley Family, I am so sorry for your loss and was deeply saddened to read of John's death. I had the pleasure of working with John in the foster care system several years ago and was touched by his compassion for children and inspired by his "can do" attitude. John was a dedicated social worker, a steadfast friend, and truly demonstrated God's greatest commandment to love. May you find comfort in your memories and the knowledge that John is resting in the loving arms of our Father.

First of all I would like to give my condolences to the Crowley family. My name is Sabia Montandon and I worked during John's tenure at St. John The Baptist Parish in Chico as custodian of the school and church in the 80's. John and I would slip out at 5am some mornings to play our favorite game of racquet ball. Besides a great game of racquet ball the best thing I remember about Fr. John at the time was his sermons. He'd go so far as to make everyone in the pews really wonder what the...
