John Csikos

My sincere condolences to John's family. He was such a nice, kind and gentle soul who will be missed by many folks.

I am so privileged to be a part of John Csikos’s family and to have him as my Father in law. Dad was a great listener and whenever I wanted to tell him something, he always asked.'Marguerite is this going to be a long story?' I would reply, 'yes' and he would listen. He would listen about everything, but he never judged. Usually he would say, ‘that’s too bad' or give a smile, depending on the 'long story.' He has been a part of my life for a long time and he has been the father I never had....

In my pre-teen years in the late 50s and early 60s my family lived across 23 Ave from the Csikos in Calgary. It was back in those days when neighbours were special and the Howells, Csikos and McGuinns (across 24A St) were those old fashion kind of neighbours. My youngest brother, Dave, was the same age as John; my sister, Mary, the same age as Steve and with Bob and Wendy McGuinn the six of them were all friends. The same situation existed with my parents, Irene and Wally, Martha and John,...

Mary:
I am sure you will miss John terribly as I know he called you every night. You were so very special to him. Siblings are special people that are not replaceable. Hold on to all your precious memories and know so many people hold you in their hearts at this time.

We have many wonderful memories and videos, of course, of time spent with your Dad. He was the best friend anyone could ask for. I am so glad I got to see him on Saturday. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember John for his always wonderful hospitality and his enthusiasm for video taping family and friends at get-togethers.
