I remember John from our days as undergrads at Mount St. Mary's College, and I don't know that I have ever met a more good-natured person. We were more acquaintances than friends at school, and having moved from the DC area in 1986, I think I saw him only 1 or 2 times after graduation. I grew up with John in Bethesda. Thoughts and prayers and deepest sympathies to John's family. Over the years it was always a pleasure meeting John on the Metro going to and from work or out and about in Bethesda. We'd always talk about the Bullets/Wizards or the local college hoop teams chances. If anyone defined the word courage, it was John.
