RIP Mayor John C Daniels. We will pray for you.

He was also made a Fellow of Trumbull College, one of Yale's residential undergraduate colleges, which the equivalent of the colleges of Oxford and Cambridge Universities and Harvard's houses. I am fairly sure that he was the first African American so honored at Trumbull, whose Master at the time was my father, George deForest Lord. Not certain what year it was, but it predated his election as Mayor of New Haven by a year or two.

Johnny unknowingly taught me at a great lesson at a young age, color of a persons skin does not make the person. A lesson I have held tightly for a very long time. Coach yelled at me a few times, stop watching Johnny run and block for him. My deepest sympathy to the Daniels family
