Not sure what to say?

Jack was my step-father for 24 years and I want to thank you for writing such wonderful things about him. Wheatley was such a big part of his life and he always loved hearing from or seeing one of his old students. I think the reason why he did was because everyone had such great things to say about him. I was such a lucky girl to have him in my life and I want to say thanks for all of the kind words about the Cat.

Simply a kind, caring, incredible kind of guy that you could not help but think of over the years. Who else would be playing golf during baseball practice?

Jack and some of his grand-children

To the Davis Family,my prayers are with you at this time of Coach Davis' passing. He was a really important part of my high school years at Wheatley. I was not really athletic in any way possible, but knowing my school spirit he asked me to be manager of both the football and baseball team. He taught me responsiblity and organization. Despite my concerns, I remember Mr. Davis as being a very kind man. One specific comment I remember - he once said "I'd rather have people wonder why they didn't erect a monument in my honor, then why they did". While he leaves a legacy among those of us who have kind memories after all these...

"Cat" was a great coach, gym teacher and encourager. When my thoughts wandered back to high school "Cat" was a central figure. He was a gift to the kids!
The Wheatley School
Class of 1969

I was saddened when Betty Bradley phoned on Sat. 21 June with the news of Mr. Davis' passing. I was heartened that lo these many years since my 1973 graduation from Wheatley, a good guy like Cat Davis that a few good decades to go. I have fond memories of b-ball and football games in his presence, & every time I was ever able to climb one of those infernal gym ropes, the memory of his on-going earlier encouragement came to the fore. May he rest in peace.
