Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to learn of John's passing. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. It was my privilege to get to know him a bit when I was the Director of the Michigan State University School of Social Work (1998-2013). He was a great encouragement and support--and role model. I will miss our conversations. Thankfully, I was able to host a visit to MSU by John. He remained in touch--he was smart, kind and wise. Such a great guy and social worker. My condolences and best wishes to the family.

I found it impossible to summarize my friendship with John over the 61 years I knew him. The Memorial his family put together was perfect and did my work for me. Ann´s loss was devastating. John was shocked and bewildered by her sudden loss. He said she was"the glue that kept his world functioning ". Only the loving support of his friends and family kept him soldiering on. John was so proud of how his sons and their wives took over an helped him with increasingly difficult issues. We bumped...

Kevin & Mike: Your memorial service in your father's memory was a touching tribute to his legacy as a family man, social worker [so-so worker], mentor, friend, and optimist even in the worst of times. I'm grateful to have known him as the caring, kind, generous, super smart uncle who took time to ask me about my career ambitions and if I was happy in life. He and your mother were wonderful people and setting up a scholarship in their names for social work and art at Michigan would honor their...

I was privileged to be mentored by John in my early years with the NASW Texas Chapter. He was always a wise observer and was my friend.

Will miss Uncle John so much! He was such a wonderful person.

I knew John and Ann on a professional level. I adored them both. John had a keen whit and knew how to turn a word or two. And he was a dashing figure. Ann bequeathed me many knitting books before she passed. Great people. Grateful for having known them both.

Mr. Davis was truly a gentle and kind man with a sparkling wit. What a gracious person, with layers and layers of knowledge. It was easy to absolutely adore him.
