John leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margarette Davis of Fort Wayne, IN; sons, Ernie (Margaret) Davis, Floyd (Sheila) Davis, Mike (Decarla) Davis, Glenn Davis, Terry (Betty) Davis, all of Fort Wayne, IN, Tony (Christie) Davis of Fort Worth, TX, and Eric (Vanessa) Cochran of Indianapolis, IN; daughters, Anita (Detrick) Eley, Frankie Cochran of Indianapolis, IN, and Trina Davis of Fort Wayne, IN. He is also survived by too many grand and great-grandchildren to count, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Service is 1 PM, Saturday, January 24, 2026 at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 E Dupont Rd, Fort Wayne with calling two hours prior; Rev. Cornelius J. Hill, Jr. officiating. Interment at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne with full military honors. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mccombcares.com for the Davis family.

Mr. John Davis, aka Sargt., was one of my best Forman's at Slater Steel Alloy, @ Slater he always had a heart for people's not matter what color you were John was a people person anything he could do to help you as a person he (Sargt.) did that help me keep my job at Slater on 3rd shift. If you needed someone to listen and good sound advice that was John and his funny saying, to the family so sorry for your loss, He was one of the real men left to show your the correct way in life and I thank God he and the family shared him with the world for a while, TOO SHORT But God knows best, He worked his row out now he resting. RIP SARGT., Much Love Your Old employee. THANK YOU FAMILY FOR SHARING HIM WITH THE WORLD And Thank GOD -Everybody At BF Goodrich heard anything but Good God Bless, Be encourage he was a very good person, and a goo example to young men today.
