John Edward Deane, 69, passed away on March 17, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Springfield, MA on April 22, 1955 to the late Edward and Harriet Deane, John graduated from Cathedral High School and soon after, enlisted in the Navy. After serving an 8-year hitch, he used the G.I Bill to get a degree in Radiologic Technology from HCC. With a heart full of adventure and devotion, John dedicated his life to his two greatest passions-his family and his work. He worked as a CT tech at Baystate Medical Center for 25 years. Later, his love for travel led him to a new chapter as a traveling radiologist, allowing him to explore the country while continuing his life's work. John saw and enjoyed a lot of America that way, all while driving a Ford F-250 and hauling a 6,000-pound RV. Most of all, John loved his home state and his children. Boston restaurants and excursions with his kids were the highlights of his life, as well as his Christmas symphony "dates" with Lizzie. He loved Tanglewood, especially on the 4th of July. He loved Cape Cod too, and the many vacations with the Taupiers at Days Cottages in North Truro. He also had a deep love of hockey, as a long-time player, coach, and fan, regularly taking his kids to Springfield Falcons games. John was a talented fix-it man. No matter what was on the fritz - electricity, plumbing, whatever - call John! He had a heart bigger than the world he loved to explore. He was truly selfless, always putting others before himself, ensuring his family, friends, and even strangers were cared for and comforted before ever thinking of his own needs. His kindness, humor, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his children Brian Deane, Kristy Konicki, Elizabeth Deane, and Patrick Deane and his fiancé, Jillian Reynolds, his grandchildren, Colin and Keeley Deane and Katelyn and Kyle Konicki. He is also survived by his sisters, Ellen Deane, Margaret Barnes, Marianne Deane-Bourget, a sister-in-law Sandra Deane, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas. Though he has taken his final journey, John's spirit lives on in the warmth of a campfire, the call of the open road, and the love he poured into his family. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025, to celebrate John's life, from 2-4pm, at Corridan Funeral Home located at 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, MA.

Not sure what to say?

We extend our deepest sympathies to Ellen and family May your brother rest in peace

Here on earth... The distance between heaven and hell is the distance between faith and doubt. Healing is not born of vanity. It is born of honesty. Honesty is born of pure love. And love is the most divine healer... the sweetest, holiest and most effective. -Val Kilmer quote

I am so very sorry for your loss. John had such a huge impact at every hospital he traveled too. He did multiple assignments for Paul and I - always with a smile. Everywhere he went the hospitals always wanted him to stay forever - "a true professional, caring and fantastic CT tech" is the common theme heard from all. We will all miss him dearly and appreciate his dedication to healthcare and people in general.
