Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

A celebration of life for John Deere, 76, will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Harvey-Douglas Centennial Chapel with Reverend David Daniel officiating.

A time of visitation and support for John’s family will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The son of the late Hubert A. and Altha Dee Aldridge Deere, John was born September 3, 1946 in Garden City, Kansas, and passed away on June 10, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He graduated from Guymon High School, then attended the University of Oklahoma and Panhandle State University. He and the former Margaret Jean "Midge" Woodruff were married April 12, 1966 in Norman, and recently celebrated 57 years of “always and forever”.

John had been self employed all his life. He along with his family also started and operated several successful business ventures in Ardmore. But John’s true passion was being a trader of art-antiques-and “junk”. He enjoyed spending time with his family and most of all he adored his grandkids. He leaves them a gift like no other; be compassionate, be kind, always be aware, people make mistakes, and “be good”. We will miss his smiles, his sense of humor, his stories, and most of all his daily presence.

We will love you always and forever. His wife Midge Deere; his son John Deere and wife Lori ; daughter, Kristi Deere and husband Josh Boyd; son Jody Deere; and his biggest treasures his grandchildren, Evan and Katie Deere; Lillydee Boyd and Grayson Deere. His Brother Joe Deere and family and sisters Sherry Hodges and family, Doris Sipes and family. Aldridge Families and Deere Families.

Honorary pallbearers: Frank Coachman, Don Reid, Tim Longest, and in memorium Mike Heubsch, A.W. Heubsch, and Bob Longest.
