Sending my deepest condolences to the Deery family. John, Hugh and my dad Pete Hastert remained friends from Darlington days to adulthood. My dad was also in the car business and I remember their visits and conversations. I will always be grateful to John for visiting my dad in Rockford a few times in 2000 when he was at home under hospice care. John definitely made my dad's days brighter with his visits and his kindness has never left me. May he Rest In Peace.
