At the very moment I learned of my wife´s death at the Corvallis hospital I found John right next to me helping me to my feet. I shall never forget his love and compassion. June 1987.

What a wonderful man and pastor. He supported our Youth Ministry, and was a great friend. He brought me Communion in his small kit (a wafer and a grape) then night before my spinal cord surgery.

John was one of my oldest, best and dearest friends going back to fourth grade in Pittsburgh. I was privileged to hear him preach in Johannesburg and our lives frequently crisscrossed in London, South Africa, and Washington, DC. Each time we saw each other it was as if it was only yesterday when we had spoken - it was that easy and natural to know him and be a part,no matter how small, of his extraordinary life. His advice to all was so simple and so incredibly meaningful: just be nice. I...

We all loved 'Denny' as we lived next door to the Dennis family on Wightman Street while growing up in Pittsburgh, PA. We saw 'Denny' often whether in Pittsburgh, Princeton, Corvallis or Phoenix and Sedona, Arizona. 'Denny' was especially close to our mother, and we saw him several times in Phoenix and we hiked together in Sedona. We got a note from 'Denny' when Nacy passed away, and we tried to contact him several times, but to no avail. He will be remembered and will be in our hearts...

I was honored to know this wonderful man. He was my Granddaughters Father in-law. He will be sadly missed.
