In CT Branford Hospice, on January 14, 2013, John DePino, of Hamden, lost his courageous battle with respiratory illness. John was a devoted husband of Deanna Kaletsky DePino, the proud father of Glen DePino of New Jersey and Mitchell (Lisa) DePino of Trumbull. He was a loving and adored grandpa to Amelia Joy and Jackson Nate. John was predeceased by his mother Francis DePino and his buddy Dallas. John had loving and caring relatives and a host of many friends who were always an affectionate part of his life. He was a kind and generous man who loved life and always saw each day, regardless of how difficult, as a good day. His glass was always half full. To those who will mourn his passing know that he appreciated each of you. John was an artistic man with many hobbies, woodworking, designing shirts and making beautiful jewelry. He was an avid bowler and loved being a volunteer for the special needs bowling teem. During the Korean War, he served with the 7th Division Infantry. For the AMVETS post 1 State of CT, he was a senior Vice President, Sergeant of Arms, and Drill Sergeant. He was President and Treasurer of Hamden Indian Guides and for many years coached Hamden Fathers Little League Baseball. The DePino family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice as well as his primary care doctor Michael Bergman, who always went above and beyond to give John the utmost care and attention. Friends are invited to visit with John's family at Beecher & Bennett, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Friday, January 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Military Honors will take place at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
