Not sure what to say?

My deepest condolences to the Detrick family. Mr. D. was always kind, even to a bunch of self absorbed 20somethings, unaware of the disruption to the Detrick household back-in-the-day. Wishing you nothing but wonderful memories of your kind father.

John was the Gentle Giant of Kawanhee. His kindness and honour was always present. He will be missed.

John always had a twinkle in his eyes, and he was always delighted to see and spend a few minutes with people at Academy gatherings. I was not a student in his math classes, but we knew each other. Condolences to all; he will be sorely missed.

So sorry to hear of John's death. He was filled with kindness and had a good sense of humor.
My wife Barbara and I always enjoyed getting with John and Helen. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen and the family.

Mr. Detrick instilled in our son Kenneth a love of mathematics. Truly an attribute of an excellent teacher. May the memories he created with his family and his students provide comfort and solace to all who mourn him. And, may his memory be for a blessing.

Deepest condolences to the entire family. I was fortunate enough to know Mr. Detrick over the years primarily through his Grandsons, Forrest and Gordon. He was an incredibly gracious host to me whenever I would visit his home. I was always struck by his wonderful sense of humor and kind heart. Fortunately, this trait has been passed on to his children and grandchildren and I am sure many of his students. May he rest in peace.

Deepest condolences to the entire family. I had the pleasure to know Mr. Detrick through his grandsons, Forrest and Gordon. He always welcomed me to his home over the years and was incredibly generous to me with his hospitality. I was always struck by his wonderful sense of humor and kind heart. I know this trait has been successfully passed on to his children and grandchildren and I am certain many of his students. May he rest in peace.

As a member of Worthington class of '53, those of us who knew the Detrick's send our sympathy to Helen and John's loved ones. Though I now live in Ga. I keep up with news of Worthington. Last night I sent emails to those who knew him since grade school. Today I received such wonderful praises of this good and gentle man.
Beginning at about our 10th high school reunion, sitting apart from the rest of us, I would notice a stranger... a tall, thin man with whitish hair. When I...
