Not sure what to say?

Dear All, I am Marcia Stegath Dorr, thinking of of you from halfway around the world. Looking eastward from here across the Indo-Pacific inspires awe for John's courage in action so long ago, and so very far away from home. How you must miss him! Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

John was a great friend and Kiwanian. He loved to help me in the kitchen at our Saur Kraut dinners, the summer picnic and the fall golf outings. I also enjoyed his Monday morning banter with Lee Bachman who was a Navy man. Every Monday morning they would discuss which branch of the service was best. It was great Fun. He will be missed. Max

John was a good man. I only knew him through Kiwanis, but I liked what I saw. We, like his family, will mourn his passing.

Though I just met John last year, we were immediately bonded by our Marine Corps roots. I wish we could have had more time to exchange stories. I will continue to hear stories about this wonderful man from his extended Kiwanis family. John's contributions to the community will always live on.

John had it all - a lovely wife and family; a smart yet practical mind and a wonderfully, warm heart. It was all complemented by his keen sense of humor which, at no extra charge, included his patented grin and a twinkle in his eye. John was a justifiably proud husband, father, grandfather, U.S. Marine, Kiwanian and good friend.

My grandfather was a great man; I learned so much from him. I loved hearing stories of his childhood in Baton Rouge, stopping by to talk when I was in town, & calling him to get advice about whatever home repair project I was doing. His marriage to my grandmother has been a wonderful inspiration to my husband & me. I only hope to live a life as rich & full as Papas.
