Paul N. Nielsen, Jr. of Jackson passed away at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS on August 21,2017 at the age of 94.

Mr. Nielsen is predeceased by his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. Paul N. Nielsen, Sr. of St. Paul, Minnesota and three sisters, Harriet, Virginia and Betty Jane. He is survived by his loving wife Helen Barker Nielsen. They were married in Albany, Georgia in 1947. He is also survived by three nephews, Dean Mallberg (Marilyn) of Casa Grande, Arizona, Mike Mallberg (Jan) of Adel, Iowa, Quentin Laymon of Olive Branch, Mississippi and his niece Laura Laymon Mullins (Ray) of Canton, Mississippi.

Paul is lovingly remembered by his family, friends, neighbors and fellow church members as "Buddy" and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi.

He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 20, 1923. He graduated from Central High School in St. Paul. There, he lettered in track and field as a high jumper on the state champion ship team. He did further studies at the University of Minnesota. He was the owner of the Wilbert Burial Vault Company in Jackson for 35 years.

Visitation will be at Parkway Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1161 Highland Colony Pkwy, in Ridgeland, MS on Thursday August 24, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. with the funeral service to be at 11:00am with Tom Washburn officiating. Interment will be in Parkway Memorial Gardens.
