John Joseph Anthony "Johnny 5" DiCaprio, of Newburgh, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 71.

Son of the late Vincent Manco and Asunta Addonizio, he was born on June 5, 1937 in Manhattan, NY. He was married to Franklina DiCaprio, who survives at home.

John was a cab driver for Bob's Taxi, Newburgh and was the owner of C&J Produce in the 1970's. He loved has family and enjoyed cooking for them. He was also an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan.

In addition to his loving wife of 17 years, Franklina, he is survived by his loving children, John DiCaprio, Jr. and his wife, Tasha of Newburgh, Luis Vasquez and his wife, Tammy of Wappingers Falls, Dwain DiCaprio and his wife, Tammy of Pine Bush, Carmela DiCaprio and her husband, David of Newburgh, and Asunta Toliver and husband, Tyrone of Alabama; step-children, Luis Aldea and his wife, Denise of Newburgh, Luisa Cannon and her husband, Timothy of Newburgh, Toni Vidal of Newburgh and Geizale Aldea of Albany; brother, Anthony Manco and his wife, Angela of Middletown; 20 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by May DiCaprio, mother of his children.

He was predeceased by his son, Giovanni DiCaprio and sister, Carmela Ann Estrada.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, June 27 at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday following visitation. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
