"Dinger". That was the best nickname ever, and how we knew you by. Together, our families were part of the exodus to NJ in the 50's to seek work. My dad w/ the railroad, Dinger w/ J&J. Both families settled in S. Plainfield and we spent a lot of time together.
Dinger was my favorite of all my dad's friends over the years. My brother Bill said the same thing when I told him of his passing.
It brings back one of my most vivid memories. Dinger was driving a bunch...

You gave a piece of yourself that never returned from the jungles of the Pacific for freedoms cause. Jack, I may not be where I am today if you didn't give me a start at J&J. You helped nurture my love for the outdoors at a young age. You were truly "one of a kind" DINGERS MARINES FOREVER!!
