Not sure what to say?

I was touched by the Tribune notice of Mr. Dowdle's passing. He was a friend of my late father, Kenneth Powless, from the Ramona Stone days. I will always be indebted to Mr. Dowdle for my first job. He gave my father the name of the only person he knew in Chicago advertising, Dodie Enright. This contact led to a 25+ year career. As I read of the kindness and generosity he extended to so many throughout his life, it put his favor granted to an old friend in context for me. The men are few...

though i have never had the honor to meet John Dowdle, I have met a number of family and friends. It is obvious, from the closeness of the people he's touched in his lifetime, that he was truly man that stood apart and lived a magnificent life that will continue to flow through those he's affected with his magnificence.
God bless.

To the Dowdle family: I want to share with you how truly honored I feel to have known your husband, your father, & your grandfather. In the short time that I knew him it was obvious to me that he was an amazing man, who did amazing things like creating such wonderful people like you all.
Julie I admire you, especially for your strength.
My prayers are with you all. With Love Annette.

Dear Julie: I just learned of John's death tonight and wish to express my sympathy. I will have Masses said at the Carmelite Monastery here in Cleveland Heights for the repose of his soul. May God bless you and your entire family. With affection, Gene

Although I met Mr. Dowdle only a few times, I could tell he was a special person. The love that your family shares for each other is evident. That is his gift and his legacy. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Freddie

Our sympathies and prayers are extended to all the Dowdle family.
"Of all the paths in life, the one that matters most is that of a true human being".

Mary and the entire Dowdle Family: I am sorry for your loss. I know your father was someone you were very proud of -- a kind and loving man. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Kevin, Please pass on my expression of sympathy to your family. I had every intention of getting to your dad'swake on Sunday evening. Unfortunately my Confirmation ceremony went too long and I could not make it up north from the far south part of the ardcdiocese in time. May God reward you all with peace and consolation. Your dad was very good to me at Charities as he was to everyone he met. I shall remember him and all of you at Mass on Monday. Bishop Edwin Conway P.O.1979 60690

Kevin, Julie and the entire Dowdle family,
You all have had such a special place in my heart and my life over the years and I have always had a special soft spot for John. I am fortunate to have known such a kind, gentle man. My thoughts and prayers with all of you during this time. Love, Janell
