Not sure what to say?

Joyce and Ronald Somerville remember John with great fondness. Through him it was possible for us to build our dream home in 1968, in the countryside west of town. There we raised our family under idyllic circumstances; sold with regret after retirement. John was a wonderful person whom we will always remember.

When we arrived in West Lafayette in 1971 and wanted to build our first custom home, we asked everyone we encountered what local builders were most respected for both skill and honesty. John was on the top of everyone's list, so we picked him. What a pleasant experience it turned out to be! Jerry finished off the house, and was equally great to work with. When we had to rebuild after a fire, the Downhams were the only ones we wanted. Our deepest condolences to the entire family.

Jean and Family-

Our sympathy to you all.

The Downhams are a gifted and generous family and the community is better for having them in it. Twenty Five years later, I still cherish the memories of the job site and just sharing life with John, Jerry, and Steve. These good people have prepared many a young man for the challenges of life, and I feel truly privileged to have benefitted from their incredible work ethic, charm, and friendship. May John rest in peace.
God Bless,
Dan Harlow
