When I first heard John Henry on guitar many years ago, I realized that I was in the listening to the “real thing” - a man who could have easily gone the distance musically, had he so chosen. He didn’t, because he was shy, and very few people had the pleasure of hearing his genuine talent, which is everybody’s loss. It was a treat hearing him, and playing music with him.
