I considered John my best friend for 40 years. He was my Best Man at my wedding and I had the honor of being his best man at his wedding to Eileen.
To this day and every day, I miss him. He accepted me for who I was without being judgemental. Our greatest joy was reminiscing about the street games we played on the streets of New York.
John, my continued love to you.

My Grandma Brigid- and Felix- Johnny's dad- were first cousins- but were quite close. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of spending time in Rockaway Beach in Queens with my grandparents, and Felix and Nora. When Johnny came to visit- it was always a special wonderful event. I remember one summer he was there quite a bit- and took me on the boardwalk to buy ice cream a few nights. I know now it was the summer he had made a very difficult decision in his life. My best wishes and...

I was a member of SAC for two years and had close contact with John. He was a very gentle, loving individual who gave great guidance to a high school student who looked up to him. I will miss him.

John Duffy was my highschool english teacher in 1965/66. He also was the came up with the idea of a Student Athletic Council at Spellman HS. I was a part of the illustrious group for three years. We learned a lot and we were encouraged, trusted and supported by John. I also remember many trips to Jones Beach with John and the Spellman gang. We kept in contact with each other all these years. I am so glad for that. I am a priest today in part due to the influence of John Duffy. God bless him...

My wife , Chris, and I were members of the Student Athletic Council, which John moderated when he was a teacher at Cardinal Spellman High School. We are much indebted to his kindness and generosity. He did not especially love the teaching orifession but he was wonderful to students. Chris and I are grateful that we had the chance to have dinner with him and do some catching up not that long ago. He will live in our hearts and memories. We know what a hole his loss leaves in the lives of all...

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.

A legend and an idol who I looked up to in every way. It was like Christmas when he visited our house in NY when I was younger and always looked forward to visiting him in Manhattan Beach. He will be greatly missed and Heaven is lucky to have him. Watch over us Uncle Johnny. Till we meet again.
