Good man gone too soon. Coach Dustin took a young unformed and aimless boy and turned him into most of a good man. Thank you, Coach Dustin.

John Dustin was a big-hearted man. After 86 years, that big heart stopped beating on Father's Day. His life was centered on wrestling, family, and exploring the world. He spent his life becoming a better man. His wrestling career started with being a 125 pound freshman on the Tigard High team and...

Although John was a friend of mine via man's oldest sport, our later years we were not particularly close. I ultimately went to Oklahoma State University and John continued to spend a large part of his time doing 'good things' for the sport of wrestling in Oregon. I did return to Oregon and coached wrestling at Pacific University for many years.

Bonnie---Sorry to hear about your loss(and 'our loss). John and I had our differences, but we had a common interest in the great 'sport of wrestling'. Dr Mike Clock

John was my first coach at Marshfield, my Freshman year in 1970. He put me in at Varsity, giving me a marvelous oops to begin loving the sport (even though I lost ALOT that year). He was a compassionate, passionate teacher of young men, generously giving of his time and guidance. He may not be in a class by himself but it certainly doesn´t take long to take roll. My heart is heavy with the news of his passing but also grateful for the time he shared with us all.

I was one of those wrestlers that John coached, specifically during a summer in Colorado Springs where we trained for the World Games. John introduced me to his lovely and vivacious wife Bonnie, and to his 16 year-old daughter Joyce (who was one of the most interesting people I met at the wrestling camp). What a great family to connect with when I was so far from home! Thanks, John, for being such a rock!
