John was a valued member of VFW Post 49 and he possessed the "yankee" bluntness to address wrongs. My first meeting with him was one of those occasions. He will be missed.

I remember the first time I met John at the VFW Post 49, his dry wit was an instant attraction! We soon became fast friends, and had many wonderful conversations about his daughter, his home, and especially Lexie. He was always good and kind to my grandson and me, I think my Christifer made him miss Lexie even more, because they were both the same age.
