John Eagle Obituary

John Randall "Jack" Eagle
1934-2018
John Randall "Jack" Eagle, 83, passed away on Friday, the 2nd of March 2018, in Houston, Texas.
Jack was born on July 4, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he lived until graduating from lower Merion High School in 1952. Jack attended The University of Delaware and was a member of Army ROTC, the baseball team, and Theta Chi Fraternity. He graduated in May of 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering.
Jack met Joyce Blair Eagle, his wife of 59 years, when they were both seniors at University of Delaware, and they married in September of 1956.
Jack joined Enjay as a design engineer in New Jersey and then completed a two year assignment to the U.S. Army Chemical Corps in Alabama. After returning to New Jersey in 1959, he held various marketing and managerial positions in Exxon Chemical's Plastics group. In 1973, he was transferred to Exxon Chemical's European affiliate as vice president for Plastics. Following 5 years living in Brussels, Belgium, he continued in the position in Houston until becoming vice president of Polymer Sales in 1986. In 1990, he was appointed vice president of Marketing for Exxon Chemical Company's Polymers America. Jack retired from Exxon in 1999 after a 42 year career and loved spending time with family and friends in Houston and Seabrook Island, South Carolina.
Jack is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne McCann (Kevin) of New Orleans, Louisiana and Kimberly (Jerry) Ragan of Atlanta, Georgia, and granddaughters Marissa McCann of New Orleans and Katie Ragan of Austin, Texas. He is predeceased by his wife, Joyce, and his parents, Mildred Lovelock Eagle and Julian Randall Eagle.
Jack was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose compassion, readiness to listen, appreciation of others, courage, and remarkable sense of humor will be treasured by all who knew him. He will be remembered for having his unique, witty parlance (always accompanied with a smile and a laugh), enthusiasm for all sports, humility, and generosity. The friendships he maintained from high school, college, his business career, and in his retirement reflected the value he placed on connections with others.
Friends are cordially invited to gather with the family and share remembrances of Jack during a visitation from four o'clock in the afternoon until six o'clock in the evening on Monday the 5th of March in the grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Jack's memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society or University of Delaware Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Lab.

I remember Jack Eagle from being 'down the hall' from my office. He was always smiling and greeting others with kindness and laughter. Heaven gained another angel and we who are here are the ones who grieve his loss. Praying for God's comfort and peace for all family and friends.
