John was my friend and valued colleague at UNCG for 30 years. I regret not hearing of his passing sooner. He was the most hard-working, sincere, modest and supportive colleague one could hope for. The world is diminished by his passing.

Dr. Eatman was one of my professors when I attended graduate school at ECU. He was an excellent teacher who could explain complex topics (quantitative methods & statistics) in a way that students could easily understand, and he was always friendly and helpful. I reconnected with him several years later in Greensboro while assisting UNCG with an academic computing center upgrade for which Dr. Eatman was a committee member. My condolences go out to his family.
