I learned with sadness of Jack's passing only today (Dec. 15) from the Columbia Today alumni magazine, which led me searching for this Globe obituary. We were classmates and close friends throughout our Worcester Academy and Columbia days, a friendship always remembered and valued throughout life. My deepest sympathies to Birdie, who will remember me as one of the ushers at her wedding.
