Remembering the Commissioner fondly. Memory Eternal!!

I will never forget you.

It was a pure delight to work for and with John during his OGS Commissioner years. He was the perfect gentleman, respectful of everyone and he showed concern for the personal lives of all. His integrity and fairness were of the highest order. Our community has lost a great leader but his amazing legacy for doing the right thing for the benefit of all people will always be remembered. My sincerest condolences to all the family and to those at the Renaissance Group who are missing their...

We are very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you.

John Egan: a fine, fine man who enriched so many with his generosity and wonderful spirit!

Gone From My Sight
By Henry Van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore.

A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then some at my side says:...

My Sincere Condolences to all who knew Mr John Egan.

I was lucky enough to have casually known Mr Egan while he was Commissioner of the Office of General Services during Two different terms.

A very nice Gentleman.

God Bless and Comfort all who knew him.

My condolences and prayers go out to the entire Egan Family. Mr. Egan was a sincere, honest and caring person. He was humble and down to earth. No matter how high he rose in his career, he still remained a humble individual. He left a profound influence in this community and throughout New York State. He will be long remembered and deeply missed. Benjamin G. Garland & Family, Garland Bros. Funeral Home

John Egan was an extraordinary role model for dedicated long-term service to the benefit of his fellow citizens. He has left an enduring legacy, not only in the physical structures that his leadership helped build and maintain but also in the most appropriate manner in which to serve the people's needs and in which to relate positively to colleagues and members of the community. We hope that the knowledge of that legacy provides some measure of comfort to the Egan family at this time of sorrow.

I had the privilege to serve on the DASNY Board with John. His energy, integrity, and dedication to public service was only matched only by his kindness and compassion for the people he touched. He embodied the words of Churchill We shape our buildings, and afterwards, our buildings shapeus.
