John "Louie" Ehrensbeck

My brother John always referred to Louie as the Stein Erickson of McCauley Mt. From afar he watched Louie win one slalom after the other . There was never a better skier or nice guy. In the following years that followed in the "60s" and later my brother went on to race Eastern races and prove himself a good skier. All the senior guys and gals of the Whitesboro Ski Club (where Mrs Risley chaperoned our club and ski team). Will miss a true gentleman.

To my old friend, and mentor, Louie, who was certainly a prolific skiing legend, and served as a role model for so many young athletes in the Old Forge community, your presence, and always smiling face will be sorely missed. Down to earth and always available to all that sought his extensive knowledge of Skiing and athletics, he was a leader and teacher that proudly represented his love of community and country on a local as well as the world stage. Rest in peace, and keep those sticks...
