Not sure what to say?

Thanks for the memory David....His stern commanding voice still resonates in my mind...We all really paid attention!! His discipline steered me in the right direction. Still missed.

As a former student at F.A. Day School, I remember Mr. Eldert very well. He was a person of very strong character and commitment to students. In many ways he was able to guide me to learn what was right and to do right! The lessons that he taught have remained with me during my life and I have sought to emulate them. He set a fine example of a person of integrity and good ideals. I have thought of him many times and continue to do so. I am very glad that I had the opportunity to know...

As a former student at FA Day Junior High School, circa 1957-1959, I remember Mr. Eldert fondly. I remember vividly us 'boys' sitting down in the gym, rapt at attention as he would describe for us how to climb a rope. So simple? Not so simple! What a lesson. Do it right and there is generally only one way to do it right. That is what Mr. Eldert taught me and I am grateful.
My deepest sympathies to Mr. Eldert's wife and family

John P. Bilezikian, MD, PhD (hon)

As a student at F. A. Day in the early 50's, I always looked up to John, or as we knew him: Coach or "Mr. Eldert". Even as I got to know him as a "Brother" in the Masonic Fraternity I found it hard to call him by his first name. His booming singing voice resonated in the Masonic Temple and in many churches. He gained the respect and admiration of his students through the years by demonstrating stern fairness. May he rest in peace.

I remember Mr Eldert vividly from the late 50s, when I acted as manager for the football and baseball teams. He was a man of strong character who always led from the front and showed young boys how to behave. A model for young men. I think no-one who trained under him felt anything than great respect. A real father figure. I miss him and men like him.

Coach Eldert was a legend among the boys who attended F.A. Day in the 1960s and 1970s. He was a disciplinarian with a dry sense of humor. His discipline and physical presence was important in what was a tough school for young teenage boys. I am sure a lot of us have great memories of our coach.
