Not sure what to say?

Haven't read my note in the guest book yet but I want to add a post script. My husband's family has a family reuinion every year and what a surprise to meet Larry Schneider from Hilo there and find out that he and John were best friends and played bridge every week together.Small world, this was in Chillecothe, Missouri. John's cousin/friend,

I first met John when I was the director of the arbitration program at the Portland BBB. John took the responsibility seriously, and was always courteous to all the parties involved. His decisions were made carefully and fairly.

Imagine my surprise when, about 15 years later, a vaguely familiar looking, cheerful gentleman sat down at the bridge table in Hilo, HI. Both of us kept trying to figure out the old cliche, "Don't I know you from somewhere?" We enjoyed playing bridge,...

John was a friend of mine for 70 years, so I will miss him a great deal. He was the senior member of our "gang of four" that were classmates at Lake Grove Grade School and Lincoln High School and kept in touch since -- John, Dale Donnelly, Dick Jarrett, and myself. Though we were separated geographically in later years -- Idaho, California, Oregon, and John in Hawaii -- we managed to see each other every year or so and communicated regularly between times.
John was a wonderful guy, and...

In 1974, John took a chance on a kid with no insurance experience. And I will be forever greatful for the opportunity he gave me. Working for John was not always easy. I think we became better friends after he retired and American Guaranty closed. We tried to schedule the AG reunions for when he was in town for the summer. The reunion will seem very empty without John there from now on. Beautiful service today. John would have been proud.

John will be missed greatly by his family & many friends. He always had a helpful hand to all of his family & friends & to his extended family as well.

I worked with John many years ago at old Amerian Guaranty. He was such a kind man, one that I grew to greatly admire and respect. My prayers of peace go to his family and friends.

We were saddened when John moved from Hilo to Oregon but happy that he would be reunited with the family he spoke so highly of and loved dearly. We are now saddened even more after learning of his passing.

My name is Vic Vierra and I'm the retired Police Chief of the Hawaii Police Department. John became a dear friend after I met him in 2004. He was volunteer who greeted visiting ship passengers. I had a security assignment and would be there with John several days a week. We...

Sincere Sympathy from all of our family.

Hi to our cousins Jeff, Kristen, Theresa, Susan & Shawn. Sorry to hear about your Dad's quick passing. I remember being in your home in Portland when we were young kids and playing in your backyard and in that huge house!! We got to enjoy many family videos too. Good memories and know you all have good ones as well. Thinking of you in a Special way. Lots of love,
