To the Elsik family,
I played basketball at the Park District for many years with John. Because of a knee injury ,I stopped playing basketball and our friend Tony Achilles just told me about the passing of John. I was shocked. John and I would spend a lot of time talking in the parking lot after basketball. He always had a great attitude and I enjoyed being on his team.
My sincere sympathy.

To the Elsik family,
In preparing to pay my respects to someone else at Modell's, I found out about John's passing. I am devastated.
I had the great pleasure of playing Park District basketball with John. The small group of us men who played together for many years loved John.
He was always upbeat, made newcomers feel welcome, and always complimented anyone who had performed well. I can't recall a time when John didn't have a smile on his face. Oh my, did this really happen....

To the Elsik family,
I just found out about the passing of John. I send my belated condolences for your sudden loss. Although I only knew John for a couple of years, when my company joined with DSI, as DSI -Lang Geotech, I remember him as a genuine, caring person always willing to help out. Also, I am sure John will be sorely missed in the DSI community clan. In you time of grieving, I trust the memory of what a good loving person John was will bear you up, and stay with you always.

Dear Linda, Anne & Carl,
I am so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of your husband and dad. By chance, I went over to Divine Savior this morning and heard the announcement of John's passing. I was so saddened. My heart goes out to all of you at this most difficult time. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. May God's guidance and healing hand be with you.

Dear Linda and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about John’s sudden passing. I grew up across the street from him and always considered John to be a very special friend. We spent many years hanging around together on the west side getting into the normal mischief that kids got into back then. I have dozens of fond memories of John and the guys playing sports in the street or alley from dawn to dusk all year long. Back in the day we never sat around the house and watched TV or...

Elsik Family,
I have worked with John for the past few years on helping him with property tax issues in Texas. I probably talked to John 8-10 times a year by phone. Not much time in the big picture. But I can truly tell you that John was an absolutely wonderful person. His presence was of kindness, honesty, and charm. He will be missed. I wish your family the best.
