Not sure what to say?

Mr. Eure , known as Father among our friends , was an exceptional man . I admired his intellect , his kindness and his interest in me as one of Ginger's friends. My long asociation with the Eure family has been a gift . I will miss the patriarch. My sympathy is extended to the entire family. Jane Winders Frank

Some of the best lessons of my journalism career came through the expert and gentle guidance of John Eure and Ozzie Worley and their colleagues at The World-News. That newsroom was a family and John was father to all of us. Godspeed, John.

According to a West African proverb (or is it Chinese?), “When an old man dies, a library burns to the ground.” By losing John W. Eure, we have lost a great library we can never replace. I was privileged to know him and to visit in his home while growing up in Roanoke. I learned from his conversation that great intellect could be combined with warm good humor and compassion. I express my profound sympathies to his family, and all who loved and knew him.

My deepest sympathy. John was a good friend and I greatly admired him. He, and his endless humor, will be missed.

Grandpa John will be greatly missed

It was my pleasure to know Mr. Eure for the many years that he served on the Board of the Voice of the Blue Ridge. I always enjoyed being with him and was impressed with his kindness. I pray that God will comfort you in this sad time.

To John (Dickie), Ginger and Cliff, you have my deepest sympathies and heartfelt best wishes. It'd been over 40 years since I saw Mr. Eure but I was always impressed with him and know that he was a very fine man. Again, my deepest sympathies.

It is with deepest sympathy that I pray for your strength in this time of sorrow. Mr. Eure was a man who my grandmother(Barbara English) loved deeply, and spent many years working for him and his family and please know that our family share your pain. Just continue to look to the Lord for your strength.

I was an employee of WDBJ Television
from 1967 to 1986.
Don't know that I had ever met you, but heard a lot of stories that included your name, from Grace Neighbors, that also worked at WDBJ Radio before she moved to TV.
