I spent more than a few nights at the Fabian household during high school. Kathy and I had become good friends,and took the opportunity for sleep-overs when we could. John would always tease me. I was shy, but he had a way of making me feel comfortable and cared about amidst all the joking. I,too, was served many a wonderful breakfast on a Saturday morning. I knew he loved his family, and had raised them to be fiercely loyal to one another and their friends. He was always willing to be of...

Gug or as I called him Big John was a friend for almost 30 yrs. We worked together and I can say he was the best claims professional I ever worked with. He had a tremendous wit and sense of humor. What I liked most about Big John was his love of family.

My heart breaks every time I think of my next trip to Oregon having to be without Gug. This was the man that accepted me as family from the very moment I met him. My father marrying into the Fabian family is one of the luckiest things that has ever happened to me. Getting to see how Gug lived his life full of love, humor, and commitment is something that will always help guide me through life.
