Sending our sincerest condolences to you Angela, and to the many family and friends who loved him.

I have very fond memories of Mr. Fikkert's music classes at Sandy Hill Elementary, and I will always cherish his encouragement of my piano studies at that time -- one of the catalysts which led me to become a professional pianist and university music professor. My prayers and profound thanks are with him and his family.

I will have fond memories of our times together as kids building lamps with wood scraps and as adults our lunch discussions to solve the world´s problems. I will miss you but rejoice at you now being with our Lord and Savior.

One of the absolute BEST elementary music teachers. Helped me find my voice while I was a bit shy in elementary school. Singing in Pinecones and learning how to play the recorder was a stepping stone to me being in Band and choir in Junior High and High School. And a life long love of music Thank you Mr. Fikkert for being such a kind, generous teacher all those years ago!

Mr. Fikkert, I still can't call him John, was one of two men that had a significant, positive influence on my life during my years in high school in the mid-1970's. My best memories were working with John on 5 musicals (I came back after my graduation year to help with the musical in 1978) and later camping at Hungry Horse Campground! John was a joy to always help at the credit union and discuss music. So sorry to see of his passing! He´s playing away in heaven!

So many wonderful memories of Jenison High School choir and the musicals! Mr. Fikkert was an awesome teacher and I'm grateful to have known him. My condolences to his family, may he rest easy in the arms of Jesus.
