Dear Fitzgerald Family,
I was so sorry to hear of the John's passing. I was a medical student at Loyola Medical School, and he was my first mentor when I rotated at St. Francis in my internal medicine clerkship in 1975. I have always tried to emulate John's caring and dedication to patients. The medical community has lost a great physician and teacher.

We knew John professionally. He was a fine physician as well as a fine person.We hope your fond memories will give you comfort.

In sympathy, and with hope, that memories of John and the love and commitment he had for his family and patients, will help ease your sorrow now, and in the days to come.

I am so sorry I will not be able to be with you and your family Jan. Know that you are all in my heart, prayers and thoughts. My tears of sorrow are also filled with joy as I think of our summers together so many years ago. As cousins we shared those days of our youth and forged a bond that all the years and distance could not take away. He was such a great man who touched so many and made the world a better place. I know he leaves a hole in all of your hearts, as his death leaves a hole...

Worked with "Fitz" and respected him. Loved discussing crossword puzzles with him....Sensitive, gentle man. Loved by all his patients.
