Not sure what to say?

Coach Flannery was always way more than a football coach for me, he was someone you truly wanted to model your life after right down to his "Bear Bryant" hat & Wine-Colored Wind Breaker. My mom would always run into him every Wednesday at a church over in Germantown, where they would hold a rosary ceremony & my mom was always asked him afterwards how her oldest son was doing over at LaSalle High School & for her that was a legitimate question being that my parents separated & soon divorced...

I first met Tex in the Spring of 1953. He was introduced to the football team as the new assistant coach of LaSalle. He stood at the head of the classroom and said "I don't drink, smoke, or curse, anybody have a problem with that? I had the pleasure of 3 yrs of his coaching and seeing him a couple of times a year for the next 54 yrs. It was an honor to play for Tex for 3 yrs. and I always remembered Labor Day weekend 1955, the year of the first LaSalle City Championship team, I met him on...

It is with fond memories that I recall Coach Tex from John Bartram High School back in the '40s. He truly was an inspiration to us all and his memory lives on in each of us who had the privilege of knowing him and being under his great leadership and influence. My heartfelt sympathy to the entire Flannery Family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and whose lives were enriched by him

I had the honor of playing for Tex in 1953-1955 and the pleasure of seeing him a couple of times a year for the next 52 years. Next to my father, he was the finest man I ever knew.

My deepest sympathy for the Flannery Family. I met Coach for the first time last year while I was helping with the Freshman team at LCHS. His insite and stories are something I can always remember about Coach Flannery. He will be greatly missed.

God be with the Flannery family and comfort them at this time.
I have fond memories of my high school years and cherish them, remembering Tex Flannery, as a teacher of life's lessons, a role model, an inspiration to be a better person.

My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you, the family of John Flannery. I was so fortunate to meet John, although it was not under the best circumstances. I'll never forget his smiling face and his teasing me about being a "Hallahan Girl" as well as a LaSalle grad. His determination and drive during his fight against his illness helped me glean some insight into the kind of coach and mentor he must have been. I know he missed his son immensely. Now he is happily with him in heaven. ...

I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. While I only got to know him a short time, he was larger than life. My thoughts are with the entire Flannery family. I know that John is now free to check out the upcoming athletic talent all over the country, and I will always smile as I remember him that way.

I was Manager for Tex's teams in the late fifties at LaSalle High, and I am very proud of having worked with him. He was a really decent and kind man, and this is definitely the end of an era for all of us who knew him. The world won't be the same without Tex Flannery. Condolences to all of you who loved him, as we who worked with him did.
