John Fogelson

Just learned John died in 16; was thinking about my time at Edit Chicago doing marketing...our long philosophical chats...ABD sn early morning smelting jaunt. He looked like my Dad , but was far more expressive. I was terribly fond of him...

John saved a rather botched edit of a film I had shot for an 1976 exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry and made it a work of art!
As far as I know it was also a pro-bono labor of love.

My (also dearly departed) director/ friend from those days, DeWitt Beall once said that John knew film editing "from the base up." The man will be remembered as one of the giants upon whose shoulders we stand.

I have met your father many times and was always impressed by his warmth, sense of humor and work ethic. It just does not seem fair that the good people of this earth pass way to soon... leaving us with wanting more. That's when you know HE, John Fogelson, made a difference in our lives... I can not add anything more profound here except...Good bye... you will be missed! "Slowly Fade To Black."

I worked with John way back in the mid-seventies and will always remember him for his zany sense of humor. He used to object to anyone freshening up his pot of coffee--the longer it had been on the warming plate, the better he liked it.
