John Patrick Forsyth, known affectionately as Patrick to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly at home on the 10th of August 2025, in Bunnell, Florida. Born on the 24th of January 1955, in Staten Island, New York, Patrick lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his devotion to his loved ones, his faith, and his many interests.
Patrick was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School. He went on to attend Saint John's University and furthered his education by attending professional certificate programs at Sussex County Technical School. His professional life was a testament to his hard work and dedication, as he was a respected Operating Engineer at Local 94 for over 35 years, most recently working for RXR Realty prior to his well-deserved and long-awaited retirement.
He embraced life with a passion that was evident to all who knew him. Patrick was a man of the Catholic faith, which guided him through life's challenges and triumphs. He attended mass weekly and believed strongly in God and the Catholic Church. His kindness and loving nature were the cornerstones of his existence, and his sense of humor brought joy and laughter to every gathering, especially events in his community with neighbors and nights spent with his wife, daughters, brother Timothy, his wife, Susan and their daughter, Meredith.
Patrick was affectionately known as "Juice" for his love of running, which he later transitioned to long walks, often covering five miles a day. When he wasn’t walking, you could likely find him biking on his bright orange bicycle which he would adorn with string lights to complement holidays like Christmas and St. Patrick’s Day. His competitive spirit shone through in his love for playing pickleball, a sport at which he excelled and for which he was proudly invited to participate in an invitational match in Arizona in November. Bocce was another favorite activity, and he enjoyed the camaraderie and challenge it offered. Golf was a favorite pastime, and he was elated to be retiring to a golf community and to have bought a house that sat along a fairway.
A man of simple pleasures, Patrick found contentment in spending hours by the pool or in the ocean's embrace. Happy hour was a cherished ritual, especially when shared with his neighbors, friends and family, whom he adored above all else. An avid reader, he kept up with current events through the daily newspaper, tackled crosswords with gusto, and lost himself in the latest novels by James Patterson and Carl Hiaasen. He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed the summer months regularly watching games at home and attending them at Yankee Stadium.
Travel was another of Patrick's joys, with annual trips to Long Beach Island and memorable excursions to places like Hawaii, St. Thomas, Disney World and Universal Studios, Italy, Spain, Key West, London, Charleston, SC, Morgantown, WV, Alaska, and Vancouver. These adventures brought him what he cherished most, time with his family and friends.
Patrick's family was the center of his world. Predeceased by his cherished parents James Wheeler Forsyth and Janis Hall Forsyth, he is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Ann (Bertucci) Forsyth, and his adoring daughters, Caitlin Patricia Forsyth and Kimberly Jean Forsyth, his siblings, Timothy (Susan Murphy) Forsyth, Nancy Forsyth, and James Michael Forsyth, and many nieces and nephews. He was a doting grandfather to his daughter’s dogs and cats, Brinkley, Zack, Harley, and Dolce, who will miss his company. He was admired dearly by his daughter Caitlin’s longtime boyfriend, Christopher.
Patrick's legacy is one of love, kindness, and a life well-lived. He leaves behind a family that adored him, friends who cherished his company, and a community that respected him. His passing is a loss to all who had the privilege of knowing him, but the imprint he left on their hearts will last forever. As we bid farewell to Patrick, we take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched and the love he spread so generously.

Pat, I can’t walk on to the pb courts without thinking about you. When you enter through the second gate you have to stop and look where you hung your bag. You were always a good provider of used “RK” balls. The thing that amazed me the most was showing up to play at 8:00 knowing that you had already walked to US1 and back. You finished well for your family and all of the pickleballers Pat. Go rest well my friend in the everlasting arms of Jesus
