Not sure what to say?

I'd like to offer this picture of Fr. Fowler that resembles him much more closely to the way I remember him. And I think about him almost everyday. Whenever I hear a weak or disappointing sermon, my mind takes me back to the time that heard Fr. Fowler respond to a compliment on his preaching by saying "I like to see them flailing helplessly in their pews." RIP, Soli Deo Gloria

You are the greatest man I have ever met. Your conviction and your love of God was unparalleled. You made me the man I am today. I will love you forever. Bless, praise, and adore Jesus Christ and his holy son. Amen. Love, Kevin

John Clinton Fowler was an extraordinary man by all accounts. Yes, he offended some people but so did John the Baptist. I have come to conclusion that Fr. Fowler was a modern-day John the Baptist, who spoke his powerful message plainly, directly and frequently bluntly. And was not fooled one bit by the baloney of the political and rhetorical twaddle (one of his favorite words) of his time. His value and importance grow with each passing year. I shall never forget him and I pray regularly...

I know you are with Jesus now, Faather Fowler. Please put in a prayer for us earthbound sinners. With fondest memories, Sam Cooke

Father Fowler was possibly the most charismatic man I've known in my seven decades. In the days since I learned of his death this week (almost a year too late) I've been reflecting on his influence in my life. I think of him as a modern-day St. Paul in his energy and dynamism and ability to communicate. Thanks be to God for his life among us. Now he is among the archangels, in the land of light and joy and peace.

So many wonderful memories of a man, teacher, priest who gave me and many others a great foundation for life. Peace, Father.

One Saturday morning I had an early morning call and although it had been at least 40 years there was no mistaking the voice at the other end of the line . Only Father Fowler . We had both been entered into the 1941-42 Tucson High Reunion Book. We renewed our close friendship for about 2 hours, joking about the times that we both had as students, the teachers we shared, and my kids and his family. There was one Easter that all 4 of our sons were on the alter, Michael, Sam, John, and Dee. We...

as an acolyte and short time thurifer-i got canned-and one time bell ringer at Christmas eve mass-i got canned, too many dings in the bell-my fondest memory of father fowler is when he took all of us acolytes to the railroad trestle out toward benson and we got sick--well, i did- from overeating the watermelons and swinging from the ropes into the small creek. Father Fowler lives on in many hearts....

There are so many wonderful things to remember about Father Fowler, but the one thing I remember the most is listening to him every Thursday in mass as he delivered the sermon up in the pulpit and how commanding his presence was. He was a great story teller and singer and we all got to enjoy the standard Friday assembly with both him and Mr. Schultz. I recall how he drove the yellow/white Blazer with his two dogs Sam and Louise always by his side. You would pray that if you were ever sent...
