Not sure what to say?

I first met John in the mid 1970's while working at Tidewater Steel Co. in Norfolk and most recently was associated with him regarding projects at Metro Machine Corporation. It has always been a special experience working with John. His knowledge , skills and demeanor were exceptional. I have been blessed to have experienced his presence and influence in my life. He is greatly missed.

I met John Fowler approximately 20-25 years ago when he provided guidance to Norfolk Public Schools on various construction projects, most notably major renovations of Granby High School and Blair Middle School as well as the new Norview Middle and Norview High Schools, among others. I agree with the sentiments expressed by many that Mr. Fowler was not only the consummate professional, but also that he was a true Southern gentleman. I had the privilege of working with John during my tenure on the Norfolk School Board and was always impressed with his expertise and his calm, reassuring demeanor. I was not aware of his previous work on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel but can attest to the immense value he brought to school construction/renovation projects in Norfolk. John without question was the epitome of the true southern gentleman and will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.

I was deeply saddened to hear of John's passing. He was a wonderful man, one of the classiest and most professional people I have ever met. I first met John back in the 1990's when he consulted for the Kiewit Companies on an Immersed Tube Tunnel Project we were bidding in Boston. We then got reacquainted in 2007 when John helped Kiewit in our pursuit of the Midtown Tunnel Project in Norfolk. John added tremendous value to our team and to our success in being awarded the project. I then...

I first met Mr. Fowler when we both worked for Tidewater Const. Co. Later, I built his office in the Huff Poole & Mahoney Bldg. in Va. Beach. A real gentleman who I had a few nice talks with about the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. RIP Sir.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family, particularly Randy, Ronnie, and Craig (our childhood neighbors). God be with you.

Rest in Peace.
