John and Kay reached out to me in 2016 with his vision of the Stranahan Endowment Fund. With the support of his friends Keith and Juan, his wishes became a reality, and he selected the first 2 students for his newly created scholarship in Fall of 2017. Now 7 years later, he has selected to receive scholarship awards to 26 students. I was fortunate to teach with John for six years at Barlow High School. I was also lucky enough to play morning hoops with Johnny-Boy for many early morning sessions before school started-mainly because John couldn't see too well, and I was not very good. We made a great team! His wife Kay is an absolute saint, and would allow us to host after-game football parties at their wonderful home on-the-hill.
