John Arthur Frechette, age 76 of Littleton and formerly of Westford, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Emerson Hospital following a lengthy battle with Lewy body dementia.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on January 19, 1949, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Christina (McNeil) Frechette.
John was raised and educated in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge Rindge and Latin. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. Upon his return home, he settled in Westford with Carol Simard Frechette, his wife of 27 years. A Registered Nurse for over 50 years, Carol eventually became his health care proxy and served as his primary caregiver in the latter years of his life, a selfless shouldering of responsibility for which her children will be forever grateful.
John worked for many years as a communications technician for NYNEX Corporation, formerly New England Telephone Company and eventually merged with Bell Atlantic to form Verizon Communications, from which John retired nearly a decade ago.
John was deeply devoted to his children and was active in youth sports, serving as a coach of ice hockey, baseball, and soccer. He loved music, camping, and had a soft spot in his heart for animals. He made many memories with friends and family in Dennisport, Cape Cod, where he vacationed often.
He is survived by his children, Nicole Frechette of Acton, Marc Frechette of Tyngsborough, and Lauren Frechette Burke and husband Jason Burke of Oviedo, FL; two grandchildren, Brooke Melvin and Jason Burke, Jr.; brothers Paul, Stephen, Alan, and Arthur Frechette; dear friend Robert (Bobby) O’Neil; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by beloved brothers Joseph and Robert Frechette.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember John for a visiting hour on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 9:00-9:45 AM at Blessed Trinity Parish – St. Anne Church, 75 King Street, Littleton. His funeral mass will immediately follow at 10:00 AM.
