Not sure what to say?

I just heard yesterday of John's passing and was shocked. While I knew John only professionally through his planning work, I always enjoyed his company and his genuine warmth. We were often on opposites sides of issues but I appreciated how John would listen to me anyway agreeing with me where he could. I learned a lot from John as did so many others. He certainly left a great legacy with his work and I am sure with his family and friends too. May you find a new home in Heaven John! ...

Please accept my condolences for your family in this great loss. I was a Parks and Recreation Commissioner in Ashland while John was there and remember interesting conversations about long-term-big picture planning. He helped the world.

We don't see the glory of his plan, Angel of GOD has taken you home. As many stars we can count, that's how much you will be missed. He called your name today. Rest In Peace my loving brother-in-law. I love you and miss you, your sister-in-law.

I knew John as a planning colleague and then as a friend. He exemplified the highest professional standards and characteristics. He made the planning profession better as well as the cities, town and communities in which he worked. John will be missed by all of us.

Surprised and saddened of course, and my heart goes out to Janet and Scott and the rest of the family. I had the pleasure of working with John on various planning things were were involved with together in Hawaii, and San Diego, Salt Lake City and elsewhere. The most fun was the few times we got to collaborate musically, we did that long-distance mostly but also in the evening after we were working in various places. Once John went to Guitar Center and bought equipment so we could play that...

A crushing surprise. A huge loss for John's family, his many followers and fellow visionaries in Oregon and beyond. It is a very sad day for me, until I think of his warm smile.

John was my friend from the time he worked in Woodburn as the city planner. I remember him as a special guy who was always optimistic about life and the future, and also very smart. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to his family at this time. I think that John finished his work here on earth and got to go home early. I'm sure he's making the angels laugh in heaven. RIP John
