Not sure what to say?

Condolences to Frey family. My fondest memory of John from early years. Arrived at our home As The Alarm clock. To help my father George LaVoie cook a weekend pancake breakfast, awakening us, stepping over children just to get to the kitchen. He said George, how'd you get so many kids ?!

Stand tall Twink. May you feel his presence in the things that you do.

Sorry to hear of Johns passing. When I lived in Petoskey we use to run into each other and discuss are days in Grand Rapids. Such a nice person.

John did not know how to smile without his whole face just like his mom. Fun. Positive. Kind. Loyal. Generous. Once his friend, always his friend. My heart goes out to Twink losing her last brother. The Freys made their communities better because they lived there.

We will miss our dear friend. So many memories. Duck hunting in Mexico, fishing at Indian Club, so many great times together! Such a blessing to so many. Sally and Larry Robson

As the Managers of The Meridian Club on Pine Cay in the Turks & Caicos, we were fortunate to have John in our lives. He added joy, wisdom and humor to all that he did. He was also very compassionate. He loved Hildi and the kids above all else. This Poem speaks volumes:

If once you have slept on an island
You'll never be quite the same;
You may look as you looked the day before
And go by the same old name,
You may bustle about in street and shop
You may...

John enjoyed Beaver Island--and we enjoyed John. He was a good friend to many here on the Island. John helped us save and clean-up a polluted site and eventually build a unique Community Center here. His wisdom, guidance and financial help were essential to our success with the project, and his good humor was always appreciated. He will always be remembered here with great fondness.

The obituary perfectly captures John´s spirit. His interests were wide ranging. There is a picture of John under the word "eclectic" in the dictionary.

Unique is an understatement for John. A positive influence for so many. It was my good fortune to know him at EGR. Well done, John. Sympathy to Hilda and family.
