As a Sister of Saint Joseph, I considered Jack as part of our family since our Sistets cared for him at Saint John’s Orphanage in Philadelphia until his adolescence. These early years shaped Jack’s strong sense of responsibility to his family and desire to serve others. I loved sitting with Jack and listening to the inspiring stories about his experiences in the Merchant Marines. There was no finer a gentleman than Mr. Gallagher. Talking with him was a treat/treasure that we will never forget. His kindness was our pleasure, always asking and speaking about ours and his family. He was truly a blessing for us all. We'll pray for him and his family, knowing that he is now at peace and watching over us all. God Bless Him.

John played pinochle at my house the Monday before he passed away. John Bergen was his partner. Angie and I tried to beat them. But the 2 John's were unstoppable! We laughed a lot.
