Kate, Matilda, Mrs. G and all the Gawf family,
We only knew J. in his later years in Portland, and only through the portal of music and his delightful daughters.....but what a beautiful glimpse into the heart of a remarkable man. Thanks for sharing this larger story. And thanks for living out his legacy of love for life, language, music, culture, humor and humanity. We love you and wish you the comfort and consolation of rich memories and the deep peace of God. We are so glad we got to...

Margo and family ~ it sounds like your father made a grand and proud exit, what a blessing that you were all able to share that time with him to make his final memories beautiful ones. I'm proud to have known your family back in a most awesome time in all of our lives, my father also served on the USS Little Rock ~ the military brought so many of us together and continues to do so today. Till the day you are all with him again, may your lives be as beautiful as he would have wanted them to be.

That is a beautiful story of an amazing man! He will be missed.
